AHA moment of the day: It can all be so simple!

While reporting downtown today, I met the cutest couple in the park…

I was interviewing 2 hilarious ladies, and out the corner of my right eye I see a young Heathcliff-and-Clair-looking couple– giving each other quick-flirty peeks on the lips. (It was totally an Awwww moment and not a get-a-room moment.) So of course I went over to talk to them next…

Although I was doing interviews on something quite serious (suicide)… I came to find out a few things about their relationship… First off– they were married… He proposed after they both got their BA’s from Hampton University because he says: I just knew she was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with- so why wait?… (I’m paraphrasing, but that’s basically what he said.)

After they were married he left the state he was from (Virginia) and followed her to where she’s from (NYC)… Did I mention he was 23 and she was 22 years old?

After talking to them I had 2 thoughts:

1) Do I have to go down-south to find the man I can sit in the park with on a Saturday afternoon– just to talk and flirt with?

2) So it’s true?!… When a man is ready for a commitment you don’t have to guess or assume. You will know by the ring he puts on your finger and/or when he says: I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

I’ve been in relationships (or non-relationships) where I’m waiting and expecting the real commitment to kick in day after day… and after getting tired of waiting- I start hinting, then I start mentioning, then I pick a fight about (insert something petty)– when I really want to fight about why he’s not committing…

All of that is soooo tiring and unnecessary– especially when it can obviously be so simple… “I just knew she was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with- so why wait?”

…This was my AHA moment of the day!

It REALLY is that simple. When a man knows, he knows. If you have to force him to commit, he's not the one..
