On a girlfriend-high!

Currently I am standing on a train platform, waiting entirely too long for a train… that’s not MY train of course, because that would be too easy… I am waiting for the detour-train I was directed to… before I can actually get a train going to my stop. Sigh!

And now I’m writing this– with both hands on my phone, and my peripheral vision on high, because having someone snatch my phone… is the last thing I need.

Well despite all this drama, today was a good day! Why you ask? I got to spend time with my besties!

Its crazy to think how long I’ve known these girls. My entire 20′s (which are not up yet) are shaped by moments we’ve shared. But since I moved to Brooklyn, new moments are few and far between.

Well, today I took a special trip Uptown to attend Museum Mile, and my girls joined me. Traveling down Fifth Avenue we visited El Museo del Barrio, Museum of the City of New York (MCNY), and the Guggenheim Museum. One of our favorite pieces of the day was an “Oil on Canvas” painting in MCNY, called, “Grand Central Terminal: An Early December.” (This iphone picture really does not do it justice):

In the Guggenheim we were told, “pictures are not allowed,” but we found a way to get a few in anyway… only pictures of us- looking at the art though…

Pictures! Just one of the reasons I love doing things with these women. They (as I do) understand the importance of them. And I can always count on one of these ladies to go the extra mile for that instagram “#NoFilter” post!

Admittedly, sometimes we joke and say, “Arrrr! Why am I here with you??!!”… As we’re always doing fun and sometimes romantic activities we each other– we’d rather be doing with a hot date.

But today it occurred to me just how much we need to cherish these times…

During our annual New Years Brunch!

I mean we’ve already lost one of our own to a husband and a baby (j/k)… another one of us is in that “real love” Mary was singing about… and soon we’ll all have significant “other thing(s) going on” that will make a borough separating us, the least of our road blocks.

So I want to go on record now and say these women will always be a priority to me! I need those deep conversations that can only come from years of memories behind it. I need those belly-laughs that are sparked, merely by saying one word that tells a whole story. And I need women in my life that have cursed me out and prayed for me at the same time.

So yea… ending my night on a girlfriend-high!
