10 Facebook updates… unsent

I have so many things in my head that I can write about tonight, but after almost an hour of me starting and stoping different posts… I’ve decided to just write about them all (the beauty of this challenge! It’s what I make it.)

Think of this list as Facebook posts I could have written today, but didn’t:

1. I am getting a lot more comfortable walking around with my natural hair out. Actually “comfortable” isn’t really the right word. I think “gangsta-with-it” is the more appropriate expression. I’m taking on the world with my Afro-puff… flirting with my Afro-puff… giving shade in my Afro-puff… and occasionally I make: “Want my hair done? Well do it for me! Until then… It is what it is!” eye-contact. All very liberating!

2. Tina Fey is HILARIOUS! I’m ashamed to say I knew little about her outside of the movie, “Mean Girls” and the 2008 “Sarah Palin” skits on Saturday Night Live… but I started listening to the audiobook version of “Bossypants” and found myself on the train today looking like a mad woman. Whether, literally laughing out loud, or suppressing a laugh that’s made it to your eyes and the corner of your mouth… everyone around you stares!

3. Usually I go to the gym between 8am-11am, depending on the day. Today I went after 1pm. And the same guys are ALWAYS there! I am tempted to ask them what they do that requires them to spend so much time pressing weights… But I fear they’d think I was hitting on them. May find a way to do it anyway.

4. Being gluten free is expensive! I really wouldn’t recommend it unless gluten hurts you in someway. (Though “gluten free” is now hurting my budget. Sigh) Today I finally made it to Whole Foods, a store I’ve always avoided due to the insane crowds, and despite all my best efforts, I still spent way too much there. However, I did get all that I needed to make the burger I’ve been craving: cheese, gluten free burgers, and gluten free hamburger bread. (My dinner tonight was a-ma-zing by the way!)

5. When you want the guy you’re… “seeing” to use your vibrator for the first time. How do you broach the subject? My tactic was to just leave it out on my head board. It was acknowledged, but not touched. Should I be more direct? Or should I be worried?

6. Speaking of the guy I’m seeing. Finally told him I had an IUD (though in the context of its coming out… they’ll be a full blog-explanation soon), and he barely knew what I meant. I googled a picture and we had a very enlightened conversation, with a q&a and everything! Yeaaaa! Another man educated on birth control!

7. So… when it says you shouldn’t drink alcohol on your prescription bottle… does that mean wine too?

8. Can I just say how fabulous Chaka Khan looks on the cover of Ebony this month. And she wants us to believe she’s 60? If it weren’t for those old Soul Train videos I’ve seen of her– I’d call bulls**t! #BlackDontCrack (Especially with some retouching… #ImJustSaying)

9. Afraid to even mention it because I don’t want any spoilers coming my way, but I just finished Game of Thrones: season 2, and this show IS very good! A lot of random boobs everywhere, but great characters! Favorite one: Khaleesi, mother of dragons

10: Intuition: The power or faculty of attaining to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought. (merriam-webster) — I’ve been searching for ways to become more in touch with my intuition. Want to be able to ignore my “fear” and “logic” and just go with my gut. Any tips on how to get better at this?

Ok. I could go on, but I think 10 is a good number to stop on. Let me know if you want me to expand on anyone of these for tomorrow’s post!

#2- Bossypants is haaaaaa-larious! I love tina fey and 30 rock is one of my all-time favorite show.

#7- unless I’m taking antibiotics, I drink while on my meds. Oh well. Lol

We probably shouldn’t be advocating drinking while on meds (lol), but long-term treatments can be challenging on ones will power… sigh! And I am definitely going write a longer piece on Tina Fey soon. After I watch “30 Rock,” which I’ll start after “Game of Thrones”
